Scranton, Pa. (9/5/12) – The Kean University field hockey team scored five second half goals on their way to blanking host Marywood University, 7-0, Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

Juniors Veronica Pogorzelski and Claire Keenan each had two goals for the Cougars (2-1) while freshman Laura Cheatham had a goal and two assists. 

Kean opened the scoring just 4:19 into the contest when Pogorzelski scored on a Cheatham assist.  Pogorzelski (pictured left) then doubled the visitor's lead at the 16:23 mark with an unassisted tally, but Marywood held the Cougars for the rest of the opening stanza.

The Cougars then broke the game open scoring in the 41st minute (Cheatham), 42nd minute (Marissa Robinson), 45th minute (Stephanie Soares) and 46th minute (Keenan) to break open the game.  Keenan added Kean's last goal at the 62:08 mark.

Junior Erin Langan, and rookies Katie DiCarlo and Gabriella Krowitz all split time in goal in the shutout win.

Kean returns to action on Friday when they travel to Misericordia University for a matchup against King's College beginning at 6 p.m.
