Women's Basketball Powers Past Rowan, 75-47

Glassboro, N.J. (1/30/13) – Senior Erika Jones recorded her 10th straight double-double as the Kean University women's basketball team surged past Rowan University by the final of 75-47, Wednesday evening.

Behind Jones' 28 points and 10 rebounds Kean improved to 5-14 this season.  Rowan was led by Bria Hill would finished with a team-high 16 points.  The Profs fall to 5-16 with the loss.

The Cougars trailed 8-2 in the early going, but responded by knotting the game at eight-all on two buckets from Jones and another from sophomore AnnaRose Pierre.  After trading baskets, Kean took the lead for good as Jones put the Cougars ahead, 12-10.  Kean pushed the advantage to double-digits with just over five minutes to go in the first stanza as Pierre hit a fast-break layup, giving Kean a 25-10 lead.  The Cougars headed into the break with a 35-21 lead.

Kean sprinted out of the intermission, scoring 12 uncontested points as the Cougars paced the second half, leading by as many as 36 on two occasions.

Pierre finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven steals while teammate Kyanne Sager (pictured left) added eight points and nine boards.  Jones recorded six steals, as the Cougars finished with 25 on the night.

Kean stays on the road and will face Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, February 2nd at 1 p.m.
