Union, N.J. (10/2/13) – The Kean University women's soccer team held New Jersey City University at bay, allowing no shots on the night, on their way to a 4-0 win in NJAC action Wednesday evening.
The Cougars (6-3-1, 3-1 NJAC) tallied an impressive 43-0 shot total while attempting 14 corner kicks on the night. Junior keeper Brittany Hoffman recorded 10 saves in the losing effort for the Gothic Knights (1-6-1, 0-4 NJAC).
Kean wasted little time getting on the board as sophomore Angie Lopez found the back of the net off a defender deflection, centering the ball inside the box for a 1-0 lead just over two minutes into the contest. Junior Sam Marchetti made it 2-0 in the 13th minute as she punched in a rebound. Senior Amanda Repko initiated the play with a header off a corner opportunity that was saved by Hoffman. Seven minutes later, the Cougars tacked on another as sophomore Kendyll Stahlin (pictured left) finished a through ball from Marchetti.
Freshman Jordyn Bronsky rounded out the scoring in the second half as she fired a high liner from 15 yards out at 48:12.
Kean continues conference play on Saturday when they travel to Ramapo College for a 1 p.m. matchup. The Knights return home and square off against Richard Stockton at the same time.
