Glassboro, N.J. (10/26/13) – Sam Marchetti scored the lone goal for the Kean University Women's Soccer team on Saturday afternoon, as they were knocked off by Rowan University, 5-1 in NJAC action.
Marchetti (pictured left) put the Cougars (8-5-3, 4-3-1 NJAC) on the board with her eighth goal of the season at the 13:12 mark of the first half, beating the Profs (15-2, 7-1 NJAC) on a blast into the upper right corner of the net. A little under three minutes later, the Profs answered back as Dayna Sakalsky knocked in a rebound past the Kean goalie KC Nunez, knotting the score at one apiece. With just under 15 minutes in the opening stanza, the Profs took the lead for good, as Victoria Camera connected on a pass from Erika Suhl, making it 2-1 at the break.
In the 63rd minute, Sakalsky added insurance, and her second of the contest. The Profs would add two more goals late in the second for the final 5-1 margin.
Nunez finished with six saves, while Suhl and Tiffany Kelly each had a goal and two assists for Profs.
Kean will return home to battle rival William Paterson University in their final regular season contest on Wednesday, October 30th at 7:30 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
