Men's Soccer Wraps Up 2013 Season

WAYNE, N.J. (10/30/13) – The Kean University men's soccer team finished its 2013 season with a 2-1 setback at William Paterson University on Wednesday. Senior Dominick DeLello scored in the final game of his career to highlight the night for the Cougars.

The first half went by without a score; the teams were fairly evenly matched and combined for 12 shots. The Pioneers took seven and Kean fired off five.

Just after the break, WPU drew first blood as Jose Arevalo hit Hugh Riley off a corner kick for the first goal of the game at 50:22.

DeLello (pictured left) drew the Cougars even twenty minutes later. Stephen Moll took the ball from midfield down the right flank, beat the defender and set up the senior for his sixth goal of the season. It was the first goal scored since September 11 after an injury knocked him out of 10 matches this season.

The tie was short-lived, however, as Riley struck again two minutes later for the go-ahead goal. The Pioneers held on for the victory to improve to 8-7-2 and 3-5-1 in the NJAC. Kean is now 9-10-1 and 0-8-1 in the league.

Kean outshot the Pioneers 16-13, including an 11-6 margin in the second half. Both sides took four corner kicks.
