Newburgh, N.Y. (11/16/13) – Junior Sam Marchetti netted the only goal of the match to send the Kean University women's soccer team to the ECAC Metro Championship game over host Mt. St. Mary College on Saturday afternoon.
Marchetti used a pass from sophomore Angie Lopez and beat her defenders in the box to push one across pass the keeper to the left hand side in the 77th minute.
In what turned out to be a great defensive matchup, the Cougars (11-6-3) held the Knights to nine shots, including just one on goal that was saved by Kean keeper KC Nunez.
Kean looks to defend their title on Sunday in the ECAC Metro Championship at noon in Newburgh, N.Y.
