Men's Basketball Tames TCNJ 72-48

EWING, N.J. (12/4/13) – Senior Mike Burton scored 19 points and junior J.J. Hladik shot 5-of-6 from three-point range as the Kean University men's basketball team topped The College of New Jersey 72-48 on Wednesday night.

Though the Cougars (4-1, 2-1 NJAC) found themselves trailing after the first 10 minutes, Kean outscored TCNJ 59-34 over the final 30 while shooting 50 percent from the floor.

Kean went on a 13-1 run after the break and the matchup was not close again the rest of the night. Hladik hit four-straight treys during the second-half run to highlight the Cougar offense and put the game out of reach.

The Cougar defense was stellar as well and held the Lions (1-6, 0-3 NJAC) to just 14 total field goals in the game.

Four different Kean players were in double figures; Burton (pictured left) led all scorers with 19 and Hladik had 15 off the bench. Tom Soulias had 14 and Ali Mix added 11. Xavier Fuller just missed a double-double, finishing with both nine points and nine rebounds on the night.

For TCNJ, Bobby Bracket posted his sixth double-double in seven games with 11 points and 10 boards.

Kean will travel to Rowan University on Saturday for the Cougars' final NJAC game of the fall semester.
