Men's Volleyball Hangs Tough with Two Ranked Teams

NEW YORK, N.Y. (2/23/13) – The Kean University men's volleyball team took one set from both No. 2 Nazareth College and No. 14 Vassar College at the Baruch College Invitational on Saturday. Both matchups were extremely tight, with six of the eight total sets decided by the two-point minimum, but Kean would ultimately fall 3-1 in both matches.

Junior Steve Vahalla had a total of 30 kills – 15 in each match – to lead the Cougars in that category. Setter Ron Dunn (pictured left) dished out 70 assists on the day and Alex Barnhard had two kills in three attempts for a .667 hitting percentage. Mike Scheuermann had four aces for the Cougars.

In each match, Kean took a set past the regulation 25.

The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow in New York, where they will face No. 9 Baruch and No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology to wrapup the weekend.
