PURCHASE, N.Y. (3/7/13) – Senior
Lyndsey
Cannon set two career records for the Kean University
Women's lacrosse team – including the most goals ever by a
Cougar – as Kean ripped through Manhattanville College 15-6
on Thursday. Cannon netted a hat-trick and secured three draw
controls to set both all-time records for Kean.
Julie
Knodt opened the scoring for Kean, with Cannon right
in her heels 40 seconds later with the record-tying tally.
Manhattanville got one back but then the Cougars fired six
unanswered goals to take an 8-1 lead and blow the game open.
The Cougars got scoring from everywhere: Samantha
Gnapp (pictured left) had four goals, including half
of Kean's total in the authoritative 6-0 run. Maggie
Brocklebank had three goals, Knodt finished with two,
and Ciara
Mastrodomenico, Kelly
Bachovchin and Stephanie
Tocko each had one for the visitors.
Jules
Keeley earned the win for Kean in goal with seven
saves, and Brocklebank and Marisa
DeAngelis had the only assists registered for the
Cougars.
Cannon has now scored 222 goals in her career, breaking former
teammate Amanda South's (2008-11) record of 220.
With her three draw controls on Thursday, she also moved ahead of
Chelsea Davis (2007-10) on that list with 208,
besting another former teammate by one.
The Cougars will return home on Saturday to face Centenary
College at 11 a.m.
