Galloway, N.J. (4/27/13) – The #2 Kean University baseball team had their seven game win streak snapped as they fell to host Richard Stockton College by the final of 6-1 Friday afternoon.

The Ospreys jumped out to the early lead in the second inning as they took advantage of three Kean errors. Shawn Kessler and Justin Gordon batted in two of the three runs in the frame to give Stockton a 3-0 lead. Stockton tacked on another counter in the third as Mark Jankowski doubled to left field and came around on another Gordon hit to stretch the lead to 4-0.

Kean cut the lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning on three hits as Salvatore Taormina erased the shutout with an RBI single.  Stockton starter Brendan Stout found himself in some trouble in the next two innings, but was able to pitch his way out of the jams as five Cougar runners were stranded over the fifth and sixth innings.

The Ospreys added two more in the seventh. With the bases loaded and two out, Erik Danser drove in two for the 6-1 final.

Junior Nick Zucchero suffered his first loss of the season striking out five in 6 and a third innings. Offensively, sophomore Andy Lopez picked up two hits as the Cougars (29-7, 13-3 NJAC) and Ospreys (21-16, 9-7 NJAC) both connected for a team total of eight hits on the afternoon.

Kean returns home for a decisive doubleheader battle against Rowan University beginning at 11:30 a.m.
