Union, N.J. (10/11/14) – Sophomore Robert Barrera collected the golden goal as the Kean University men's soccer team edged William Paterson University in overtime by the final of 1-0 on Saturday.
Rookie Sevag Kherlopian (pictured left) used a backward touch to feed a streaking Barrera who lined a shot into the righthand post. The shot hit the post and crossed the line, starting the celebration for the Cougars (9-4-1, 3-2 NJAC).
The totals were just about even for both squads (18-16 advantage for Kean in shots, even at six apiece in corners).
Keeper Nick Pavlichko earned his fifth shutout of the season as he improved to 6-2-1 on the year, recording three saves. Mike Diacheysn had four saves in the loss for the Pioneers (6-6-2, 1-3-1 NJAC).
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday when they host Montclair State University in a 7:30 p.m. matchup at Alumni Stadium.
