MANHATTAN, N.Y. (11/15/14) – Sophomore transfer Lincoln Holley scored 20 points in the Kean University men's basketball season opener: an 89-69 loss at Baruch College on Saturday. It was the first action of the season for both teams.
Kean had five players in double figures and the Cougars hit 10 three-point shots.
Four starters scored 10 or more points, namely Holley, Tim Steward, Emmanuel Omowole and Mike Diamond. In addition, senior J.J. Hladik was 4-of-8 from behind the arc for 12 points.
Holley (pictured left) made six field goals and was 8-of-10 from the line to net his 20 points. He also led the team with eight rebounds.
The Bearcats outscored Kean in the first half, but the Cougars took the second-half aggregate 41-34.
Chimaechi Ekekeugbor led Baruch with 17 points off the bench. The Bearcats out-rebounded Kean 36-25.
The Cougars will return to the hardwood on Tuesday, November 18 to open their home schedule with a 7 p.m. game against Stevens Institute of Technology.
