GLASSBORO, N.J. (11/2/14) – Kean University goalkeeper KC Nunez made a season-high 13 saves, but Rowan University edged the Cougar women's soccer team 1-0 in the opening round of the NJAC Playoffs on Sunday.
The Profs dominated the day. They outshot Kean 25-2 during the game, and did not allow a single Cougar shot on goal. On the other hand, Nunez was peppered with six shots on goal in the first half and eight in the second. She made 13 stops to keep Kean in the match until the final whistle.
Erica Suhl finally broke through for the Profs at 63:38. She got off a shot from just inside the box off a pass from Melissa Kelly. Suhl's shot became the only one for either side to find the net on the afternoon.
Rowan took 11 corner kicks in the game and limited Kean to one. Jordyn Bronsky (pictured left) and Kaitlyn Pallitto took the two shots in the game for the Cougars.
Carleigh Tivino earned the shutout win for the Profs (12-5-1) without being asked to make a single save. Sunday's game was a rescheduling of a match originally slated for Saturday afternoon.
Kean is now 10-6-2 on the year, and will look to defend its ECAC Championships of 2013 and 2012 when the field for that tournament is revealed next week.
