UNION, N.J. (3/19/14) – The No. 13 Kean University men's volleyball team racked up 15.5 blocks in its 3-0 victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline Conference action on Wednesday. Sophomore Tommy Rosario (pictured left) had 11 blocks, setting a new program record for block assists in a single match.
Setter Ron Dunn – who finished with 23 assists on the night – got things going with four service aces in the first set. Arthur Kosakowski and Ed Jedziniak combined for five kills as Kean cruised 25-13.
The second set was the most competitive; the teams were tied as late as 19-19, but Dolphin errors down the stretch combined with a Dunn ace and Jedziniak kill allowed the Cougars to take that one as well.
In the third, Kean served six aces – including four by Bez Arslani – as the home team won going away in a 25-11 final. Michael Fox ended the match with a kill that landed perfectly on the sideline.
Wednesday's match marked the Cougars' 10th-straight victory. Mount Saint Vincent is now 9-6 and 5-2 in the Skyline, while the Cougars improved to 14-6 and 7-0 in the conference.
Kean will be back in action when the team hosts the Kean Invitational this weekend, beginning with a match on Friday at 7 p.m. against Stevenson University.
