Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls to Drew

Union, N.J. (4/16/14)  - Senior Julie Knodt scored her 100th career goal on Senior Night, but it was not enough as the Kean University women's lacrosse team fell to local Drew University on Wednesday evening.

After the Rangers (9-3), tallied three of the first four goals scored in the contest, the Cougars battled back to knot the game at three. Meghan Schneck and Knodt both scored within 53 seconds of one another, with Knodt reaching the century mark in goals with her free position tally. Both teams traded goals until the end of the half, as Ciara Mastrodomenico was able to convert a free position shot with just four ticks remaining in the opening stanza, and the Cougars (7-6) went into the half-time break trailing 7-6.

This 7-6 margin was the closest the Cougars would get however. The opening six minutes of the second period ticked away, but soon after, the Rangers went on a decisive 6-0 scoring run, with Morgan Mason recording a hat trick during the run. The Cougars broke the string of goals as Jordan Blanda connected, but the Rangers tacked on three more to close out the contest.

Blanda and senior Carly Seidel finished with two goals apiece with Blanda also adding six draw controls. Daniella Wagenti made four saves for the Cougars in net. Brooke Gagliano led Drew with four goals and six shots, and Jadin James made 16 saves in the win.

Prior to the contest, the Kean University Athletic Department and women's lacrosse team honored seniors Mastrodomenico, Seidel, Knodt, Wagenti, Kelly Bachovchin, and Stephanie Soares in a pregame ceremony as part of Senior Night.

The Cougars travel to Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, April 19th, and then back to Alumni Stadium for the home finale on Tuesday April 22nd, when they play host to Ramapo College at 4 p.m.
