No. 12 Men's Volleyball Completes Sterling Run Through Skyline

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (4/8/14)Kyle Farley was a perfect 6-for-6 and John Cunningham hit .727 as the No. 12 Kean University men's volleyball team completed the first-ever perfect Skyline Conference season in league history with a 3-1 victory over NYU Polytechnic on Tuesday to complete their historic run.

Kean is now 24-7 having won its last nine matches. The team ends the year with a perfect 14-0 Skyline mark. The Blue Jays fell to 5-23 and 2-12 in the conference.

Josh Haimann had a nice day for Kean with five service aces and 28 assists – both numbers led the squad. He also had eight kills as the Cougars rotated positions throughout the match. Cunningham and Bez Arslani tied for the team lead with nine kills apiece.

Jon Bowser (pictured left) had nine digs to pace the team, and Kean finished with 22 blocks – including six by Mike Scheuermann – in a show of dominance.

Senior Arthur Kosakowski had 18 assists and four blocks and freshman Jimmy Le hit .500 on the night. The Cougars outhit Poly .309-.078 in the match.

Kean will host the Skyline Conference Tournament on Saturday, beginning with a semifinal matchup at 1 p.m. against New Jersey City University. If victorious, the Cougars will play for their third-straight title in the 7 p.m. Championship Match.
