Carr's OT Goal Lifts Field Hockey Over FDU

MADISON, N.J. (9/30/14) – Freshman Teresa Carr of the Kean University field hockey team redirected Jordan Colna's shot into the Fairleigh Dickinson University cage four minutes into overtime of a scoreless game to give the visiting Cougars a 1-0 win on Tuesday night.

Though the shot totals for the game were not drastically lopsided (13-7 in favor of Kean), the Cougars had much higher quality chances. Kean put a total of nine shots on goal, while its own backstop, Katie DiCarlo (pictured left), was asked to make just one save on the night on her way to the shutout victory. It was a big one though, coming in the overtime period. Tuesday's game marked her second shutout of the year.

Kean is now 8-3 this season, while FDU moved to 5-5.

Kean's Bridgette Bottinelli led all players with three shots on goal in the game. Samantha Klimaszewsk was the tough-luck loser for the Devils after making eight saves on the night. As customary, the Cougars also led the penalty corner count 11-8 in the game.

The field hockey program participated in FDU's Pink Game promotion on Tuesday night. The Cougars donated a total of $371.75 to the National Foundation for Cancer Research and wore pink shirts during warm-ups to support the cause.

The Cougars will host Rowan University in an NJAC matchup on Saturday at 4 p.m.
