Mahwah, N.J. (10/28/15) – The Kean University women's soccer team posted their eighth shutout of the season by topping Ramapo College, 2-0, on a dark and rainy afternoon.
The Cougars improve to 10-6-2 overall, 5-2-2 in the NJAC and earn the fourth seed in the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament. Kean will host a fifth seeded opponent that is not yet determined on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars seeding is the highest for the program since the 2005 season when Kean was tabbed as the third seed.
The Roadrunners now stand at 9-6-1 overall, 3-5-1 in the conference and wait on word of a possible ECAC Women's Soccer Tournament bid, which is announced November 9th.
The Cougars got all the scoring they would need in the seventh minute of action (6:25) when Kaitlyn Pallitto (pictured left) scored her team leading 13th goal of the season. Jordan Thuman added an insurance goal for Kean off a pass from Sabrina Pascarella in the 40th minute (39:38).
Kean outshot Ramapo 17-12 including 12-8 in shots on goal while the Roadrunners held a slight advantage in corner kicks in the game 6-5. KC Nunez tallied eight saves for the Cougars while Ramapo's Jessica Cusick stopped nine during the game.
The time and opponent for the Cougars will be updated late Thursday evening.
