UNION, N.J. (11/11/15) – The Kean University field hockey team fell 4-0 to Stevenson University in the ECAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday. The Cougars end their season with a 14-7 record, tied for the fourth-most victories in school history. Sophomore Krista LaMaina set a new school-record with 28 goals and 70 points this year. Both she and Chelsea Mann tied the school-record with 14 assists in 2015.
Stevenson, the tournament's fourth seed, used two goals from Sara McVey to squeeze past the Cougars into the semifinals.
Stevenson scored just one goal in the opening period; a shot by Katelyn Byram at 22:48. But the Mustangs scored 33 seconds into the second half, then added two more markers to pull away.
Marissa Robinson, playing in her final collegiate game, led Kean with two shots on goal. Fellow senior Katie DiCarlo made eight saves. Sophomore Courtney Richard made a defensive save for Kean as well.
The Cougars were the tournament's fifth seed.
