NEWARK, N.J. (2/4/15) – The Kean University men's basketball team fell in a 74-48 NJAC matchup with Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday night.
The win lifted the Scarlet Raiders to 15-6 and 9-5 in the NJAC, while Kean moved to 5-16 and 3-11 in the league.
Freshman Jalil Tajiddin set a new career high in the game with five points. The Newton native hit both shots he took, including one from behind the arc. The Cougars were paced by Emmanuel Omowole, who had six rebounds and three assists for the team lead in both categories.
J.J. Hladik and Tommy Soulias were both in double figures for Kean, with 10 and 12 points, respectively. Dre Kelly (pictured left) added five boards and Kevin Grek was 2-for-2 from behind the arc.
Doze Ikwuegbu was the leader for Rutgers with 15 points. The Scarlet Raiders shot over 50 percent in both halves and held the Cougars to a 28 percent mark. RU led wire-to-wire.
The Cougars will head to Rowan University for another NJAC road showdown this Saturday at 7 p.m.
