No. 5 Men's Volleyball Sets New Program Win Record by Blasting Skyline Opponents

ALBANY, N.Y. (3/29/15) – The No. 5 Kean University men's volleyball team completed a 4-0 Skyline Conference weekend with dominant sweeps of Sarah Lawrence College and the Sage Colleges on Sunday. The Cougars victory over Sage marks their 27th this year; the most in a season in school history. Kean has now won seven-straight matches – all sweeps; 21 sets in a row.

Playing Sarah Lawrence for the second-straight day, Kean once again strangled the Gryphons and allowed them an average of 8.3 points per set. The Gators didn't fare much better, and lost each set by double-digits.

Every single player who saw action for Kean registered at least one dig. Jacob Kauffman had nine to lead the team in that category. The Cougar defense also was strong on the blocking side, with 16 stuffs in the two matches; nearly three per set.

Four different Cougars – Bez Arslani, Ed Jedziniak, Connor Evans and Andrew Bliss – had 10 or more kills for Kean as the offense hit on all cylinders.

Setters Ron Dunn and Steve Schrank divided up the team's 75 Sunday assists admirably.

Evans (pictured left) also had a remarkable serving performance with eight of Kean's 22 aces. The two opponents, for contrast, managed just one ace combined. Evans led the Cougars with 20.0 points on the day.

Overall, Kean hit .374 as a team and held Sage and Sarah Lawrence on the negative side of the equation at -.065.

The Cougars (27-3, 13-0 Skyline) will have five days off leading up to a clash with National No. 1 Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday in Hoboken. Kean will also tangle with the College of Staten Island during that tri-match.
