PURCHASE, N.Y. (3/7/15) – The No. 1 Kean University men's volleyball team topped the College of Mount Saint Vincent and SUNY Purchase to stay a perfect 6-0 in the Skyline Conference on Saturday. The Cougars are 18-1 overall this season.
Kean swept host Purchase 25-13, 25-19 and 25-11 to start the day. The Cougars had a second-set hiccup against Mt. St. Vincent but won the other sets handily 25-19, 25-18 and 25-18 to close out the afternoon.
The Cougars hit .423 as a team against Purchase. Andrew Bliss led the way with eight kills, and Kyle Farley pounded his way to a .833 attack percentage. Bliss (pictured left) also led the team with eight digs.
Bill Fischer launched four aces in the three-set match and added five kills. Kean had a total of 21 block assists in the match, led once again by Bliss who had four. He was also the only player with double-digit points (10.0).
Against Mt. St. Vincent, Jacob Kauffman racked up 18 points with 11 kills and four service aces. Kean limited Vincent to just .061 hitting with 13.5 team blocks and Nick Breslin's 10 digs.
Kean will head to the Midwest during the upcoming Spring Break and take on four schools in Illinois and Wisconsin - Mt. St . Joseph, Carthage, Lakeland and Milwaukee School of Engineering - beginning on March 13.
