PRINCETON, N.J. (4/14/15) – In its final outing before NCAA postseason play commences, the No. 5 Kean University men's volleyball team dropped an inter-division matchup to Division I Princeton University on Tuesday evening.
Kean ends the regular season with a 31-5 record. Princeton improved to 10-10 on the year.
Each set was tight, with the Cougars in striking distance in all three. Kyle Farley (pictured left) hit .444 in the match and had three blocks, an ace and a dig for Kean.
Once they had their bearings, the Cougars hit extremely well in the third set; .579 as a team, much better than the .308 mark by the Tigers. But Princeton got bailed out by serving six aces in that set to close out Kean in a sweep.
Kendall Ratter had three of those aces, while Cody Kessel led the home team with 16 kills on the night. Bez Arslani got to double-digit kills for Kean and the Cougars outblocked their hosts 10-3.
Freshman Jacob Kauffman led the team with four digs. Tommy Rosario and Ed Jedziniak both had four blocks for Kean, and Rosario was second on the team with seven kills.
The next time Kean will be in action is in NCAA Division III Championship Quarterfinals. The fifth-seeded Cougars with take on No. 4-seed SUNY New Paltz on April 24 at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.
