#8 TCNJ Defeats Women's Lacrosse in NJAC Regular Season Finale

Union, N.J. (4/25/15) – Eighth ranked The College of New Jersey used an eight goal run in the first half to surge past the Kean University women's lacrosse team by the final of 17-3 on Saturday afternoon in the NJAC regular season finale for both.

With the win, TCNJ improves to 14-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference play.  The loss drops Kean to 7-9 overall and 3-3 in the NJAC. 

With the conference slate now complete, the Cougars finish fourth and will travel to TCNJ to face the same Lions on Wednesday, April 29th as TCNJ claims the top seed.  MSU finished with a 5-1 record and will host #3 Rowan (4-2).

In today's action, the teams' see-sawed to start off the contest with Kean taking the lead with 24:44 to go in the first half on a tally from senior Maggie Brocklebank off an assist from fellow senior Meghan Schneck

The Lions then rolled off 10 of the next 11 goals of the half to jump out to an 11-3 halftime advantage.

The entire second half belonged to TCNJ offensively as they held Kean and added six more goals for the final of 17-3.

Senior Kendal Borup led all players with six goals while adding a groundball and draw control.  Junior Cortney Natalicchio provided four goals and four assists.  Defensively Lauren Karpovich caused three turnovers, picked up five groundballs and added a late second half tally.

For the Cougars junior Jordan Blanda (pictured left) recorded a goal and an assist in the loss.

Both teams will meet again on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. NJAC Tournament semifinal matchup.
