POMONA, N.J. (4/29/15) – The Kean University men's lacrosse team dropped a Skyline Tournament Semifinal matchup to Stockton University by a 17-11 final score on Wednesday night. Anthony Carpenter, Brian Mills and Anthony Perrotta all scored two goals to highlight the night offensively for the Cougars.
After Stockton scored the first goal of the night, Kean ripped off a three-goal burst in less than three minutes to take a 3-1 lead. Perrotta set up two of them; the goal scorers were Eric Talbot, Matt Speciale and Carpenter.
But the Ospreys countered and scored three in a row of their own. Vincent Manaisa – who scored a team-high five-goals – tied the game at three and then Andrew Clarkson gave Stockton the 4-3 lead with 1:44 to go in the first.
The Ospreys were able to stay in front for the rest of the night, helped by a streak of five unanswered goals that spanned from 9:07 of the second period to 8:18 of the third. Perotta finally ended the run to make the score 11-6, but the damage had been done.
Senior Mike Criscitello won 14 faceoffs for Kean and gathered a team-best nine ground balls on the night. Perrotta (pictured left) finished with two goals, two assists, four points, seven shots, a ground ball and a caused turnover for perhaps the most balanced stat line of the game.
Nick Bologno finished with nine points for Stockton, and Mike Caposella added four goals for the second-seeded Ospreys.
The Cougars, who are 9-8 on the year, will now await word of any possible postseason matchups.
