CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (9/13/15) – The Kean University field hockey team captured its second Tournament title of 2015 and ran its record to a perfect 6-0 with a 9-0 victory over host Wilson College on Sunday. Amazingly, the Cougar defense did not allow a single shot all weekend.
Six different Cougars scored in Sunday's game. Wilson suffered its first loss of the season and is now 2-1.
On Sunday, Chelsea Mann matched Krista LaMaina's 24-hour-old Kean program record with four assists in the game, while LaMaina and Marissa Robinson scored two goals for the Cougars on Sunday.
The other Kean goal scorers were Shauna LaMaina, Teresa Carr, Katie-Lynne Lussier, Raykena Brown and Mann. Other than Mann, Carr was the only Cougar to pick up an assist on Sunday afternoon when she helped on Shauna LaMaina's marker.
Krista LaMaina (pictured left) put up 14 points in Kean's two games at the Wilson Invitational and was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Robinson, Mann and LaMaina were each named to the all-tournament team.
Goalkeeper Katie DiCarlo picked up the shutout, her third of the season and Kean's fourth in six games.
In addition to capturing this weekend's Wilson Invitational, the Cougars captured the Connie Harnum Classic championship at Susquehanna University earlier this season.
Kean will return home to host the Bulldogs of DeSales University at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
