All three goals in the first half came on the same formula: a long volley into the box, and a header to finish it off. The first came at 12:51, when Tom Bogert served one into the box for the freshman Reyes. It was the first goal of Reyes' career.
10 minutes later, Carmine Colasurdo was the beneficiary of Jude Morgan's long pass from the left side, and he buried it to make it 2-0. Morgan earned his first collegiate point on that play. At 38:17, Vaughn Cusano found Joe Koetters for the third Kean goal of the half.
Kean outshot Medgar Evers 31-2 over the first 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Ziyadde Mohammed was outstanding in goal for the visitors. He made eight saves, fought off 12 corner kicks and kept his team in the game for the first period.
In the second half, Kean continued to assault the MEC goal. Bogert, Reyes, Nick Kyriakidis and Bryan Blandon all scored. It was the first college score for Kyriakidis, Bogert and Blandon. Marcin Zadlo (pictured left) helped on two of those goals for his first two collegiate points and Kevin Olaya earned an assist as well.
Kean goalkeeper Brad Watkins did all that was asked of him to earn the shutout victory, his second of the season. Freshman Chidi Iloka saw action in goal in the final 15 minutes of the game and made a diving save.
The final shot count in the game was 48-5.
Up next, the men's soccer program will hit the road for three games. The roadtrip starts in less than 24 hours, when Kean takes on St. Joseph's College of Long Island at 7p.m. on Wednesday.
