Ruby Asabor led all players in the game with 11 rebounds and swatted three shots. Miesha Bacon added 11 points on 5-11 shooting and pulled down eight boards. Marajiah Bacon hit 3-of-5 shots from downtown in the game.
Kean made its first four shots of the game – an easy layup off the tip and subsequent jumpers for Marajiah (pictured left) and Miesha Bacon. Later Owens broke down her defender, stepped back across the arc and drained a three for a mixtape-worthy highlight.
Miesha Bacon also made four-straight from the free-throw line as the Cougars took a 13-2 lead to start the game without missing a shot.
Though the pace slowed down, Kean had built a 17-4 lead after one quarter. Thanks to a tenacious Cougar defense, Ramapo was 2-14 from the floor and 0-2 from the free-throw line.
But as dominant as Kean was in the opening quarter, the Roadrunners patiently worked back into the game, getting within one at 21-20. However, Marajiah Bacon scored four-straight points there to keep the Cougars in front. It was part of a 9-0 Kean run that helped put the Cougars up 29-21 at the half. The game was never tied and Ramapo never took a lead.
Kean extended its cushion in the third quarter, and went into the final 10 minutes leading by 12. Both teams scored 21 in the final period as the Cougars cruised by a dozen.
Perhaps the most telling stat of the game was fast-break points; Owens and the Bacon twins were throwing the ball downcourt at will. The Cougars racked up 18 points in transition and did not surrender a single fast break bucket themselves.
Eden Obou had six rebounds for Kean and Diana Todaro added five. In addition to the others mentioned above, Danielle Oakley and Brianna Burgess scored in the game for Kean.
Kean is now 11-7 on the year and 6-5 in the NJAC. The Roadrunners are 4-15 and 2-10 in the league.
The Cougars will head to Rutgers-Camden this Saturday to tangle with the Scarlet Raptors in an NJAC contest at 1 p.m.
