UNION, N.J. (1/29/16) – The Kean men's volleyball teamfell in a five-set thriller to Marymount University and a four-set contest with Rivier College on Saturday on the final day of the Clash at Kean.

Against Rivier to start the day, Kean was up 15-10 in the first, but the Raiders battled to tie the match at 18. Three straight Riv errors, and two kills by Jared Warner put Kean up five. Nevertheless, the Raiders fought back and tied the set at 23, 24 and 25 before getting two in a row to win 27-25.
The Cougars fell behind 13-7 in the second set and eventually the score was 24-18. Kean got to within 24-23 with Jacob Kauffman serving, but the Raiders hung on to win 25-23.
Kean fell behind 5-1 in the third, but caught up by the middle of the set. There were four ties, but this time Kean overcame the early deficit and forced a fourth set. Shayron Taylor had four kills in the third set alone and had three blocks, including the only two solo blocks of the match for Kean.
Rivier regained the momentum and won the fourth and final set 25-18. Grant Andler had a whopping 20 kills to lead Rivier in the match.
Taylor finished with a team-best 17 kills, while Kevin Barrow paced the Cougars in assists (32) and added eight digs. Nick Breslin had nine digs to lead Kean in that column. Tommy Rosario hit .318 for another Cougar highlight. Rosario was also named to the All-Clash at Kean Team.
Against Marymount, Kean trailed the fifth set 5-0. Still, the Cougars fought back and tied it. They finaly caught the Saints a 13-al, when Taylor and Chadd Jones combined on a block to tie the set at 13. But Marymount pulled through to win the next two points and take the match that featured three sets decided by two points.
Kean is now an even 5-5 on the season. Rivier and Marymount imprived to 3-1and 1-2, respectively.
The Cougars will open up Skyline conference play this week when they host the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a dual match on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
