Women's Soccer Wins at William Paterson

Wayne, N.J. (10/8/16) – The Kean University women's soccer team snapped William Paterson's four game winning streak by the final of 3-1 in NJAC action on Saturday afternoon.

The day's scoring started with Kean (7-6, 2-3 NJAC) freshman Lexy Monroy used senior midfielder Jordan Bronsky's through ball to put Kean ahead 1-0 at the 15:06 mark.

Bronsky (pictured left) tucked a shot inside the left post from eight yards out, making it 2-0 Kean in the 51st minute. Freshman back Deana Abdou chipped in on the assist.

Down 2-0 in the 65th minute, WP (9-3-1, 2-3 NJAC) got on the board when freshman Marisa Adelman headed a loose ball to classmate Kristen Bowe for a header goal inside the left post.

Kean put the game out of reach in the 88th minute though when freshman midfielder Brittany Morales headed in junior Kendall Machak's corner kick amongst a crowd of bodies, giving Kean the final 3-1 advantage.

Senior Lauren Healey made six saves for Kean while WP sophomore Angela Sandelli made five stops.

The Cougars return to action on Wednesday when they travel to New Jersey City University for an afternoon matchup.
