Ewing, N.J. (4/30/16) – The Kean University women's lacrosse season came to a close on Saturday as the Cougars fell to #2 The College of New Jersey, 16-7.
Kean ends the season with a 12-5 record, the third best in program history.
After falling behind early in today's action the Cougars used a late surge in the first half to close within two at the break (7-5). Trailing 7-2 with just over 12 minutes to go in the first period, rookie Morgan Graham converted a free position attempt to start the rally. Less than a minute later senior Jordan Blanda made it 7-4 and in the closing minutes of the first half fellow senior Sam Gnapp closed the deficit to two with an unassisted tally.
The Lions (16-1, 6-0 NJAC) regrouped at intermission and pushed across the game's next six goals to seal the win.
Blanda finished with three goals and five draw controls while sophomore Krista LaMaina added two goals. Sophomore keeper Nikki Apostolopoulos (pictured left) recorded 20 saves in the loss.
