No. 10 Men's Volleyball Advances to Skyline Final with Sweep

UNION, N.J. (4/6/16) – The No. 10 Kean University men's volleyball team swept aside fourth-seeded College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Skyline Conference semifinals on Friday night. The top-seeded Cougars earned a trip to their fifth-straight Skyline Championship Match with the win.

The Cougars won 25-13 in the opener. CMSV did earn the first point of the night, but after that the Cougars never trailed. Mount Saint Vincent was held to a negative-.067 attack percentage in the set.

Kean reached another gear in the second set, hitting .520 with 15 kills on 25 swings. Tommy Rosario had four kills on four attempts and added two blocks for a perfect second set. Chadd Jones also hit 1.000 in the second set for Kean.

The third set ended with the same score, 25-16, as the Cougars wrapped up the semifinal win in less than an hour.

Jacob Kauffman was a force and registered six aces in the match to go along with six kills, five digs and two blocks. Both Rosario and Shayron Taylor hit .750 on the night for Kean.

Setter Steve Schrank not only led the team with 33 assists, but he paced the squad with four blocks as well and had an in-system dig on the night to fill out the stat sheet. Nick Breslin topped the dig chart with seven. Bill Fischer (pictured left) led the team with seven kills on Friday.

The Cougars has earned the right to host the 2016 Skyline Conference Finals against Ramapo College on Sunday at 1 p.m. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
