Men's Lax Falls to Farmingdale

UNION, N.J. (4/9/16) – The Kean University men's lacrosse team dropped a 7-4 Skyline Conference matchup with Farmingdale State College on a rainy Saturday at Kean Alumni Stadium. The Cougars outshot the Rams 36-31, but FSC goaltender Thomas Fallon made 13 saves to earn the win.

Kean fell behind 2-0 in the first quarter on goals by Tyler Rifice and Derrick Sherrod. With just 1:20 left in the opening period, Eric Talbot set up Matt Brodley for a man-up goal and Kean's first score of the game. It was a wet and cold contest, marked by a higher turnover rate than usual and miserable conditions in the stands for the Cougar faithful.

Mike Snellen knotted the game early in the second quarter after juking his defender with a shifty move and ripping a shot for an unassisted goal, rewarding the multitude of fans who sat through what felt like winter rain.

Kean weathered a stretch where they were down two men for 15 seconds of the second quarter without conceding a goal, but the Rams did score twice late in the half to take a 4-2 lead into the locker room.

Anthony Carpenter had four ground balls in one second quarter possession for the Cougars, as he scooped up his teammates' shots and gobbled up errant passes on the turf. The shots were 17-16 Kean after two quarters of play.

In the second half, Carpenter and Anthony Perrotta scored goals, but the Rams countered with three of their own to keep the lead and win by a 7-4 final. Perotta set up Carpenter's goal and Talbot (pictured left) earned his second assist of the game on the final goal for the Cougars.

Ed Adams won 10-of-14 faceoffs  and tied with Carpenter and Perotta for the team lead with five ground balls. Maxwell Fields made a dozen saves for the Cougars.

Kean (7-4, 1-1 Skyline) will remain home and host Bard College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
