BROOKLYN, N.Y. (9/19/16) – Senior Sev Kherlopian scored a career-best four goals as the Kean University men's soccer team throttled Brooklyn College7-0 on Monday. It is the Cougars' eighth-straight win. Mathias Patino, Alex Noriega and Kamsi Udodi also scored for Kean.
The Cougars have outscored their opponents 33-3 this season. They are now 8-1 on the year.
"The group's response in the second half with the minor adjustments we made showed our depth and how their willingness to execute our concept really pays off," said interim head coach John Velasco. "The group was able to stay consistent from top to bottom which is never an easy thing to do, and that really gives us a look at our depth and how each player can impact the game while executing the concept."
Kherlopian scored his first goal of the afternoon just 3:23 into the match with an assist from Mateo Castro Arias. Patino (pictured left) added his marker at 24:45 from 30 yards out.
Noriega kicked off the second period with a goal off a free kick less than six minutes in.
From there, Kherlopian went off and scored a natural hat trick – three goals in less than 3:30 of game time. The first two were assisted by Kazari Trought and the final one came from Noriega.
Finally, Antoine Gbamou crossed a pass from the left side to Udodi, who finished it into the net at 87:52.
Brad Watkins made three saves and Bryce Horn was also part of the shutout in goal for the Cougars.
The Bulldogs are now 2-4-1 on the season.
Kean will return to NJAC play on Saturday with a road match against Rutgers-Newark at 7:30 p.m.
