Field Hockey Improves to 9-0

Waterville, Maine (9/25/16) – The Kean University field hockey team kept their perfect season going with a 6-0 blanking of Thomas College (Maine) on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the win the Cougars close out the September slate with a 9-0 non-conference record.  Kean will take on their first NJAC opponent just shy of a week from now when they host Rowan University on homecoming Saturday.

In their second shutout in as many days, the Cougars once again used a balanced scoring attack with three goals in each half of action.  The combo of Shauna LaMaina and Jordan Colna (pictured left) gave Kean a quick 2-0 lead with LaMaina tallying goals at 8:31 and 12:22.  Jenna Patrone made it a three goal advantage with a pass from Krista LaMaina for the halftime score.

The LaMaina sisters combined for goal number four and three minutes later Teresa Carr registered her first of two goals on the day.  Carr would close out the scoring in the 62nd minute.

All three Cougar keepers saw time in the contest, combining for two saves in the shutout.
