UNION, N.J. (1/28/17) – Freshman De'Mean Bond pulled down 22 rebounds and scored 21 points for her 10th double-double of the season and led the Kean University women's basketball team to a 70-52 victory over Ramapo College on Saturday evening.

With Kean trailing 11-8 late in the first quarter, Danielle Oakley staged a one-woman comeback. First her driving scoop shot cut the lead to one. On the Roadrunners' next trip down the floor, Oakley intercepted a pass and had impressive tiki-taka passing with Payce Lange for the layup to give Kean the lead.
The Cougars never trailed again and took a 39-27 lead into the locker room. Bond was a force in the first half; she racked up 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting with a game-high nine rebounds in just 14 minutes.
Kean outscored the Roadruners 31-25 in the second half that was all but academic. Marajiah Bacon had 11 second-half points and Kenya Adams added seven.
By the final buzzer, Bacon (17), Adams (13) and Bond were all in double figures. Ruby Asabor (pictured left) had five blocks and Bond swatted another four. Bond and Jaquetta Owens stole the ball three times and Owens led all players with seven assists.
Ramapo was paced by Kellie Lane, who had 11 points.
Kean remains in second place in the NJAC with a 10-2 league record. The Cougars are 13-6 overall. Ramapo sank to 7-13 and 2-11 in the conference.
The Cougars will hit the road on Monday for a makeup NJAC date with Rutgers-Camden scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip.
