Orange, Calif. (3/7/17) – Chapman University used 15 hits, including three homeruns, to power past the Kean University baseball team by the final of 14-6 on Tuesday evening.
The win improves the Panthers to 12-4 while the loss is the third straight for Kean who falls to 7-4.
The Cougars pounced first and pushed across a single run in the top of the first as Matt Krupa recorded a groundout RBI, scoring Ivan Rivera who reached on a leadoff single. Chapman would tie the game up in the bottom of the second with their first homerun of the evening, a solo shot from Jared Love.
The Panthers took the lead for good in the fourth with a five spot that included five hits and two Cougar miscues.
Kean would come as close as 6-4 in the fifth with RBI singles from Nick Polizzano and Derek Walker, along with a bases-loaded walk from Brian Cole.
Chapman would take over from there adding four more runs in their next at-bat to build a comfortable lead they would not relinquish.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Occidental College.
