Union, N.J. (4/27/17) – Ian Scheidemann tossed an 82 pitch complete game to help Rutgers-Camden to a 5-2 win over the Kean University baseball team on Thursday afternoon in NJAC action.
Scheidemann (4-2) allowed two runs and six hits (all singles) while fanning three and walking no one.
Offensively Chris Jones was 3-for-4 with four RBI (a homerun shy of the cycle) to propel the Scarlet Raptors (13-20, 4-11 NJAC) offensively.
The teams traded single runs to start the action. In the top of the first Jon Theckston reached second via a throwing error and moved to third on a balk. Jones recorded his first RBI of the day on a single two batters later.
Kean (21-15, 7-8 NJAC) evened the score in the second as Brian Cole lofted a bases loaded sacrifice fly scoring Matt Krupa who reached on a leadoff single.
The Scarlet Raptors then took the lead for good in the third, all with two outs. Jones delivered a two RBI triple and would later score on a balk.
Krupa was 2-for-4 in the loss for Kean. Theckston finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored for RUC.
The two teams will square off again on Friday in Camden at 3:30 p.m.
