Union, N.J. (9/23/17) - The Kean University men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback to Rutgers-Newark on Saturday afternoon.
#11 Rutgers-Newark improves to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC with the victory.
The Scarlet Raiders got on the board as junior Stefano Muniz took advantage of a Cougar miscue and fired a shot past the keeper on a fast break. Minutes later, Joshua Breton-Jones drew out the Cougar goalie and sent a pass across the box to Fabio De Sousa who buried a shot into the open net for the 2-0 lead.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second half which solidified the win for the Scarlet Raiders.
Kean was outshot 23-10 on the day.
The Cougars (4-3-1, 0-2 NJAC) return to action on Wednesday night as they travel to Montclair State University for a 7 p.m. start.
