Union, N.J. (10/13/18) – The Kean University men's soccer team was edged by William Paterson University by the final of 1-0 on Saturday evening in NJAC action.
Senior Brandon Harley scored the lone goal of the contest in the 72nd minute as he took advantage of a Kean defender miscue that left a one-on-one opportunity with a charging Derek Phells. Harley was able to race to the ball first and fired into the empty net.
The teams played evenly throughout as the Pioneers (10-4-1, 4-3 NJAC) and Cougars (5-6-3, 1-4-1 NJAC) both attempted 14 shots and Kean holding a slight edge in corner opportunities, 4-3.
Gabriel Reyes stopped five shots for WP while Phells made two for Kean.
The Cougars will travel to Ramapo College in a rescheduled NJAC matchup on Wednesday.
