MAHWAH, N.J. (10/16/18) - Erin Donnelly, Audrey Treanor and Melissa Way each notched a goal as the Kean University field hockey team recorded its first New Jersey Athletic Conference victory over Ramapo College, 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Jenna Patrone recorded an assist and five shots for the Cougars who improve to 7-9 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC. Kelli Ratkoski scored the lone goal for the Roadrunners who fall to 4-10 overall and 0-5 in the NJAC.
Kean and Ramapo traded goals in the first half with Donnelly scoring on a Rachel Mills assist in the 12th minute, before the Roadrunners answered with an unassisted goal in the 20th minute to even everything at 1-1 going into halftime.
In the second half, Way was responsible for both Kean goals as she assisted on Treanor's goal in the 40th minute and scored off a Patrone assist in the 59th minute.
The Cougars edged the Roadrunners on shots (21-14) and corners (13-8). Way totaled six shots and Treanor tallied three. Donnelly, Mills and Kayla Molnar all took two shots apiece. Bailee Mullen made four saves and earned her first victory of the season.
Head Coach Leslie LaFronz and the Cougars will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20th, hosting the nationally-ranked Lions of the College of New Jersey at 5:00 p.m.
