#4 Men's Volleyball Sets New Longest Winning Streak with Victories over Dominican and Aurora

AURORA, Ill. (3/16/18)- Jared Warner tallied 26 kills and posted a .632 hitting percentage over two matches as the #4 Kean University Men's Volleyball team set a new program for the longest winning streak at 17 matches with victories over #6 Dominican University and Aurora University.

Kean 3, Dominican 2 (21-25, 25-14, 21-25, 26-24, 15-10)

Warner, Shayron Taylor, and Steven Zarzycki combined for 43 of the Cougars 60 kills as Kean need a fifth set to decide their matchup against #6 Dominican University.

Ian Capp collected his third straight double-double with 52 assists and 11 digs as the Cougars tied the programs longest winning streak at 16 matches, originally set in 2015.

After both sides took two sets apiece, the match entered a fifth and deciding set. In the final set, the Cougars posted a .500 hitting percentage with 11 kills and just two errors. Taylor and Zarzycki collected three kills, while Warner and Nick Buseski tallied two kills apiece in the final frame.  

Kean improved to 22-2 overall, while Dominican fell to 16-6.

Kean 3, Aurora 1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-21)

In the final match of their Midwest trip, the Cougars needed an extra set to dispatch first-year program Aurora University. Warner, Zarzycki and Buseski combined for 34 of Kean's 54 kills.

Capp totaled 48 assists and nine digs, while Nick Breslin finished with 10 digs as the Cougars extended their match winning streak to the longest in program history.

After recovering from a five-set thriller with nationally-ranked Dominican, the Spartans were able to steal the first set from Kean (25-22). The Cougars responded and showed why they have been nationally ranked all season long by winning the next three sets and leaving the Midwest unbeaten.

Kean improved to 23-2 overall, while Aurora fell to 9-9.

Head Coach Charlie Ginex and the Cougars will return to action on Wed. Mar. 21st, hosting the Knights of Neumann University at 6:00 p.m. and the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers-Newark at 8:00 p.m.
