Union, N.J. (4/28/18) – Top ranked The College of New Jersey improved to 15-2 overall with a 19-5 win over the Kean University women's lacrosse team in the regular season finale for both.
Kean (14-3, 3-3 NJAC) scored the first marker on an unassisted tally from senior Krista LaMaina. TCNJ (15-2, 6-0 NJAC) tied things up with a goal from Amanda Muller and took the lead for good two minutes later on a Kathleen Jaeger tally.
The Lions would go on to score eight straight to take an 8-1 lead with six minutes to go in the first half. Kean's offense then strung together four of the last five goals of the period to pull within four (9-5 at the break).
TCNJ then paced through the second half, holding Kean scoreless while adding 10 more.
Morgan Graham led Kean with two goals while Danni LeSaint finished with a goal and an assist.
For the Lions, Jaeger collected five goals and an assist while Kasey Donoghue recorded four goals on the day.
The two teams will face off again on Wednesday in the semifinal round of the NJAC Tournament in Ewing at 7 p.m. TCNJ will be the top seed while Kean holds the four spot.
