Cougars Play to Double Overtime Draw with TCNJ

EWING, N.J. (10/12/19)- Nick Kovach notched his first career goal as the Kean University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw with the College of New Jersey on Saturday evening.

The Cougars (8-4-2, 2-1-2 NJAC) scored midway through the second half as Kovach found the back of the net when a Felix Pereyra shot was stopped and the ball bounced back to the sophomore for the 1-0 lead in the 68th minute. The Lions (9-2-3, 1-1-3 NJAC) waited until the 84th minute to even everything at 1-1, when Dante Bettino connected with Joseph Schlageter.

The final 17 minutes saw neither team get the golden goal as the Cougars earned their second draw of the season and the second in NJAC play.

The Cougars edged the Lions on shots (18-14), while TCNJ held the advantage on corners (7-5). Fanor Arango totaled six shots, while Alex Nicol and Max Acosta tallied three. Pereyra and Kovach each recorded two apiece.

Head Coach Peter-John Falloon and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16th, hosting the Roadrunners of Ramapo College at 3:00 p.m.
