#10 Salisbury Rolls Past Football

Union, N.J. (10/26/19) - #10 Salisbury University used 307 rushing yards to roll past the Kean University football team by the final of 65-16 on Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.

In total, 13 players collected rushing yardage for the Sea Gulls (6-0, 4-0 NJAC) as their triple option style of play resulted in five rushing touchdowns on the afternoon, registered by five individual players.  The balanced scoring attack gave Salisbury a 14-3 lead after the first quarter and 38-3 advantage at the break as SU led wire-to-wire.

Quarterback Jack Lanham was 4-of-7 with two touchdowns and 102 passing yards while he added 29 yards on the ground.  The Sea Gull defense was responsible for two scores on the afternoon as Josh Adewumi scooped up a loose ball and returned it 21 yards to make it 14-3 near the end of the first quarter.  Sam Pagella's 85 yard interception return in the third quarter added cushion as Salisbury went ahead, 51-3.

The Cougars (2-5, 1-3 NJAC) scores came from Logan Matthews, who booted a 26 yard field goal in the first quarter, a one yard plunge from quarterback Tyrae Taylor in the third and a seven yard pass from Taylor to Paris Crawford in the fourth.

Taylor was 7-of-9 for 123 yards for Kean while Dietrich Trumbauer led all players defensively with 13 total tackles on the day.  On special teams, Donte Jamison averaged 32 yards per kickoff return, including a best of 57.

Kean wraps up their home slate next Saturday when they host William Paterson University for senior day.
