Field Hockey Bows Out of NCAA Tournament

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (11/17/19) – Ja'Carra Jackson scored the lone goal as the No. 9 Kean University field hockey team fell to No. 2 Middlebury College, 4-1 in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.

Meg Fearey scored and assisted on a goal for the Panthers who improve to 19-1 overall and advance to next Saturday's national semifinal against Salisbury. Peyton Mann assisted on the lone goal for the Cougars who finish their season at 19-4 overall.

The two-time defending national champions opened quick with three goals in the first quarter for the 3-0 advantage. Middlebury pushed their lead to 4-0 in the 35th minute, before Jackson put the Cougars on the board in the 39th minute.

Jackson tallied her sixth goal of the season, after Mann dribbled towards the cage and a defender deflection allowed the ball to roll towards the sophomore who beat the keeper one-on-one.

Despite the loss, the game was highly competitive for the final three quarters with each side giving up just a goal.

Jackson tallied two shots, while both Jenna Patrone and Melissa Way each recorded one apiece.  Belly Reynoso made nine saves in 60 minutes of work in goal.
