MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (11/17/19) – Ja'Carra Jackson scored the lone goal as the No. 9 Kean University field hockey team fell to No. 2 Middlebury College, 4-1 in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.
Meg Fearey scored and assisted on a goal for the Panthers who improve to 19-1 overall and advance to next Saturday's national semifinal against Salisbury.
Peyton Mann assisted on the lone goal for the Cougars who finish their season at 19-4 overall.
The two-time defending national champions opened quick with three goals in the first quarter for the 3-0 advantage. Middlebury pushed their lead to 4-0 in the 35
th minute, before Jackson put the Cougars on the board in the 39
th minute.
Jackson tallied her sixth goal of the season, after Mann dribbled towards the cage and a defender deflection allowed the ball to roll towards the sophomore who beat the keeper one-on-one.
Despite the loss, the game was highly competitive for the final three quarters with each side giving up just a goal.
Jackson tallied two shots, while both
Jenna Patrone and
Melissa Way each recorded one apiece.
Belly Reynoso made nine saves in 60 minutes of work in goal.
