UNION, N.J. (11/2/19) – Jesse Larkin totaled 29 kills over two matches, including becoming the ninth player in program history to record 1,000 career kills as the Kean University women's volleyball team defeated Brooklyn College and Misericordia University on Senior Day.

Larkin tallied her 1,000
th career kill and recorded a career-high 21 kills in the 3-1 victory over Brooklyn to open the afternoon.
The Cougars (24-8) hit .266 for the match and above .180 over all four sets. The Bulldogs (14-12) were held to a .047 hitting percentage, including negative percentage's in two of the three set losses.
Larkin reached the career milestone early in set one with back-to-back kills and Kean holding a 4-2 advantage. The senior finished with 10 kills over the first two sets and tallied eight in the fourth set victory. Larkin broke her previous career-high of 19 kills in the victory over Clark on Sept. 21
st.
Brianna Calvano filled up the stat sheet again with 43 assists, 13 digs, five kills, three aces and two blocks. Calvano's 43 assists in the match pushed her over 1,000 for the season.
Cailyn Ross totaled six kills, while
Liz Hadly,
Kayla Thornton and
Morgan Hall all tallied four kills apiece.
Kortnee Nelson collected 16 digs and surpassed 1,600 for her career.
Kean 3, Misericordia 0
Zoe Strozewski (10) and Larkin (8) combined for 18 kills as the Cougars (25-8) swept the Cougars of Misericordia (20-16) in straight sets. Head Coach
Don Perkins recorded his 25
th victory of the season for just the third time under his tenure at Kean.
Strozewski notched seven of her 10 kills in the opening set as Kean hit .500 in that set and didn't look back. Calvano finished with 27 assists and reached 3,500 for her career, while Larkin moved into eighth place on the all-time kills list surpassing former teammate
Brett Harper (2015-18), who was in attendance today along with other recent former Cougar Alumni.
Kean posted a .329 hitting percentage in the match.
Before the Brooklyn match, the women's volleyball staff honored Calvano, Nelson, Larkin and
Jess Iacona.
Coach Perkins and the Cougars will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 5
th, hosting the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers-Newark in the opening round of the NJAC tournament at 7:00 p.m.
