Women's Basketball Propels into NJAC Championship Game

Glassboro, N.J. (2/21/19) – The Kean University women's basketball team scored 16 points in the overtime period to propel past Rowan University in semifinal action of the NJAC Tournament on Thursday night.

The win sends the Cougars (14-13) into the championship on Saturday where they will face #4 Rutgers-Newark at 7 p.m.

Shannon McCoy led Kean with 24 points and six rebounds while Payce Lange added 19 points and seven rebounds.

The second-seeded Profs led for almost the entire first-half, but were never able to push the advantage out to double digits.  Rowan led at the break, 34-28.

The Profs then pushed out to a double digit lead twice in the third quarter but the Cougars responded and rolled off a 9-0 run to tie things up with under a minute to go.

Kean then took the lead the in fourth quarter, just their second lead of the day and led by as many as six with four minutes on the clock.  Missed opportunities down the stretch led Rowan back and with under a minute to go Dominique Peters tied things up sending the game into overtime

Buckets by Casey Filiault, McCoy and Cindy Foresta quickly gave Kean a seven point advantage as the Cougars held on to the lead for the next five minutes to come out with the win.

Foresta finished with a double-double 11 points and 11 rebounds while Filiault added 13.
