SELINSGROVE, Pa. (8/31/19) –
Melissa Way tallied a hat-trick and a career high three goals as the Kean University field hockey team captured its first victory of the season with a 3-0 shutout of Susquehanna University in the consolation of the Connie Harnum Classic.
Peyton Mann assisted on two goals and
Ja'Carra Jackson assisted on the other for the Cougars who improve to 1-1 overall.
Hunter Pitman totaled three shots for the River Hawks who fall to 0-2 overall.
Kean proved to be the aggressor from the opening whistle as Way and Mann connected for two goals in the first 13 minutes of the contest. The Cougars added an insurance goal in the 49
th minute, when Jackson notched her first career assist to help Way collect the hat trick.
Kean edged Susquehanna on shots (16-9) and penalty corners (18-9). Way took eight shots, while
Jenna Patrone tallied five and Mann took two.
Belly Reynoso made four saves and earned her first career victory in goal.

Leslie LaFronz and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 4, hosting the Knights of Arcadia University for their home opener at 7:30 p.m.
