Cougars Blank SUNY Cobleskill, 7-0

Union, N.J. (9/11/19) – The Kean University women's soccer team picked up their third shutout win of the season with a 7-0 blanking of SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

The Cougars (3-3) were led by freshman Grace Casais who collected a hat-trick with three straight goals to end the first half.

Both teams were slow in the early going, but Kean broke through in the 12th minute as Kayley Brooks took a feed from Mariaelena Torres.  It was Torres' turn five minutes later for a quick 2-0 score.  Senior Lexy Monroy collected the third goal of the night, also on an assist from Torres before Casais broke the game open to a 6-0 lead with three markers to close out the opening frame.

Rookie Katie Morrison rounded out the scoring on an assist from Lauren Jurcsek with 10 minutes to go in the contest.

It was a family affair as senior Angelica Kays played against her older sister Rosie Kays who is the head coach of the Fighting Tigers (1-3).

Kean enjoys a nice break and will return to action next Saturday when they open New Jersey Athletic Conference action against Stockton University at 1 p.m.
